ARTIST THOUGHT
 
The sacred syllable ॐ (AUM) is composed of three sounds—A, U, and M. Each sound carries a distinct vibration within the body, representing a different aspect of consciousness and guiding us deeper into meditation.
The sound “A” resonates in the navel region, the centre associated with vitality, grounding, and the source of creative energy. It represents the creation of the universe and everything within it, and symbolises the conscious or waking state—our experience of the physical world through the senses, thoughts, actions, and awareness.
In meditation, the chanting of “A” brings our awareness to the body and to the present moment. As the vibration begins from the navel and expands outward, it reminds us of the energy that moves through all creation. It is the beginning of the journey of Om—from the experience of the outer world toward an awareness of the inner self.
For me, “A” represents awakening: becoming conscious of our existence, our surroundings, and the energy within us. It is the first movement of the meditative journey, where we begin with the world we can see and experience, and gradually turn inward to discover what lies beyond it.
A is the beginning—the awakening of awareness, the birth of creation, and the first step inward.
