ARTIST THOUGHT
This painting depicts a sage immersed in the chanting of Vishva Shanti Paath, a prayer for peace and harmony in the world. His deep meditation and chanting become a channel through which the energy of the mantras is envisioned as expanding beyond the individual and radiating into the universe.
At the centre of this inner awakening is the Aagya (Ajna) Chakra, the energy centre associated with intuition, awareness, and inner perception, symbolised here by ॐ. Om, regarded in Indian spiritual traditions as the primordial sacred sound, represents the vibration of universal consciousness—the connection between the individual and the greater universe.
Through the rhythmic chanting of Om and Vishva Shanti Paath, the mind gradually becomes still and the boundaries between the self and the world begin to dissolve. The meditation becomes a journey from within to beyond—connecting the individual with the larger field of existence and awakening a sense of peace, balance, and inner steadiness.
This milestone painting reflects my belief in the transformative power of meditation: how turning inward can reconnect us with ancient wisdom, deeper awareness, and the energies that already exist within us. The sage becomes a symbol of this inward journey, where silence, vibration, and consciousness come together.
Ultimately, the work is an exploration of Atman—the inner self or consciousness—and the realization that beneath our identities and the changing world lies a deeper, timeless presence.
From the individual to the universe, from sound to silence, from meditation to awareness—this is the journey within.
